Ala Moana -- Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the renovation project for the bathhouse located on the Diamond Head-end of Ala Moana Regional Park is now complete and the facility has been reopened to the public.

This is the facility near the L&L concession by ʻĀinaMoana (Magic Island).

The majority of the renovations for this facility were designed to improve security, cleanliness, and usability.

These improvements, which began at the end of 2017, include the following: installation of skylights, reroofing, repairing the tile floor, improving ADA compliance within the restrooms, adding security gates and screens, and replacing the exterior drinking fountains.

Fencing in the open area adjacent to the bathhouse will remain for about a month to allow for the grass to regrow. Surveillance cameras installed on the outside of the bathhouse prior to the renovation project have been reinstalled and reactivated.

Similar improvements to the bathhouse at the Ewa-side of the park are expected to begin in early 2019.

These improvements are the result of the Mayor Kirk Caldwell's 9-Point Community Action Plan calling for immediate improvements to Ala Moana Regional Park.

The $668,000 contract for the bathhouse project was awarded to Amethyst Builder, Inc.
