TheBus announces new service, route updates starting August 21

HONOLULU – In preparation for the Beat the School Jam, the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Transportation Services announces upcoming updates to select TheBus Express routes, as well as the debut of a  new Campus Connector Express route. These changes will be effective on Sunday, August 21st 2022.

Additional Trips for Express Routes:

DTS will be reinstating select Express routes for TheBus, that were paused due to complications during the COVID-19 pandemic. Times in
bold are additional trips added to route service.




Route U1 Campus Connector Express:



DTS will be bringing a new route into service called U1 Campus Connector Express. The Campus Connector Express will be connecting island-wide Express Routes in Downtown Honolulu to school campuses east of Honolulu. This limited stop service will serve UH Mānoa, Kapiʻolani Community College, and other educational campuses along the route, traveling through areas of Downtown, Makiki, Mōʻiliʻili and Kaimukī. Service will be during school days only.



AM trip times from Stop #834: 6:15am, 6:30am, 6:45am, 7:00am, 7:15am, 7:30am

PM trip times from Stop #240: 3:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm




DTS continues to evaluate and adjust TheBus routes and schedules to address changes in travel demand and rider needs.

DTS also urges drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists to travel safely with aloha during the upcoming “Back to School” weeks. Roadways will be heavily impacted with traffic congestion, so please plan ahead and accordingly. DTS urges residents to consider alternate modes of transportation and carpooling to help reduce the amount of vehicles, frustration, and collisions if at all possible.
