City plans to expand passport service to Kapolei Satellite City Hall

West O‘ahu residents will soon no longer have to drive to Ala Moana Satellite City Hall to get a new U.S. passport.

The Kapolei Satellite City Hall will begin accepting U.S. passport applications Dec. 5, 2022 on an appointment-only basis.

Online appointments to apply for a new passport at Kapolei Satellite City Hall can be booked at
alohaq.org, starting Nov. 21, 2022.

“We are taking very seriously the demand to ease processing delays and better help meet the international travel needs of residents,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services. “Expanding the city’s passport service to Kapolei is an important step in that direction.”

The expanded passport service comes about four months after it was offered by the city for the first time ever at the Ala Moana Satellite City Hall, where applications have been processed for an estimated 270 residents with plans to travel abroad.

The Kapolei Satellite City Hall brings to two the total number of city government-run sites in the U.S. Department of State’s Passport Program Acceptance Program.

The Kapolei Satellite City Hall will be accepting at least 21 passport applications daily during normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each person applying for a passport must have an appointment.

The service will be limited to first-time passport applications. In addition to the passport application fee, the satellite city hall will collect a $35 processing fee. All fees must be paid by check or money order. Credit and debit cards are not accepted. In addition, satellite city halls do not provide passport photos.

Information on passport application requirements are available at
travel.state.gov or honolulu.gov/csd.
